Trump Labels Greenland ‘Our Territory’ But Rules Out Military Action

At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, U S President Donald Trump reiterated that Greenland belongs to the United States. He made it clear that he would not use military force to seize the Arctic island from Denmark.

Speaking to international leaders and business figures, Trump emphasised negotiation and diplomacy over coercion. He continues to push for a formal transfer of the territory.

Trump acknowledged speculation that he might use force but firmly rejected it. He said the United States does not plan to employ military strength to secure Greenland. He called such action unnecessary.

Instead, Trump urged ‘immediate negotiations’ with Danish officials and other stakeholders. He framed the discussions as beneficial for both U S interests and global security.

Throughout his address, Trump described Greenland as a strategic asset. He argued that the United States is the only nation capable of protecting the island due to its geography and potential military value.

Donald Trump repeated his belief that the U S should oversee Greenland. He dismissed objections from European allies, a stance that has increased tensions in the transatlantic alliance.

Trump also highlighted his administration’s domestic achievements. He discussed efforts to reduce inflation and lower costs for American households.

Analysts, however, warned that his foreign policy stance could cause problems. They cited his threats of punitive tariffs on EU countries that resist discussions over Greenland.

Such measures could destabilize the economy and strain diplomatic ties.

European leaders from Britain, the EU, and Denmark rejected Trump’s approach. They reaffirmed Denmark’s sovereignty over Greenland.

They also rejected linking territorial discussions with economic penalties. Their response highlighted concerns about alliance unity, adherence to international law, and NATO’s future cooperation in the Arctic.

Trump’s push for Greenland, even without military force, has sparked international debate.
