US President Donald Trump has responded to the shocking killing of an Indian national in Texas, pledging that the suspect will face ‘the fullest extent of the law’ and be ‘charged with murder in the first degree’.
Taking to Truth Social, Trump wrote, “I am aware of the terrible reports regarding the murder of Chandra Nagamallaiah, a well respected person in Dallas, Texas, who was brutally beheaded, in front of his wife and son, by an ILLEGAL ALIEN from Cuba who should have never been in our Country.”
The US President further criticised the previous Biden administration for releasing the accused into the community.
“This individual was previously arrested for terrible crimes, including child sex abuse, grand theft auto, and false imprisonment, but was released back into our Homeland under incompetent Joe Biden because Cuba did not want such an evil person in their Country. Rest assured, the time for being soft on these Illegal Immigrant Criminals is OVER under my watch!” he added.
On 10 September, 41-year-old Nagamallaiah was fatally assaulted and decapitated at a Dallas motel.
The alleged perpetrator, 37-year-old Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, was apprehended and charged with capital murder.
Authorities state that he decapitated the victim and disposed of the head in a trash bin.
A graphic video circulating online reportedly shows Martinez pursuing Nagamallaiah with a machete. He completes the attack and then kicks the victim’s head into the parking lot. Afterwards, he places it in a dumpster.
On Friday, the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has begun proceedings. These proceedings aim to remove Martinez from the country.
DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin criticised the Biden administration for its immigration policies.
“This gruesome, savage slaying of a victim at a motel by Yordanis Cobos-Martinez was completely preventable if this criminal illegal alien was not released into our country by the Biden Administration,” she asserted.
According to DHS records, Martinez had previously been in ICE custody at Bluebonnet Detention Centre. He was released under an Order of Supervision on 13 January 2025. This occurred during the Biden presidency.
