Train Derailment In Russia’s Volgograd Leaves Over 100 Injured

In a tragic accident in Russia’s southern Volgograd region, a passenger train carrying over 800 people derailed after colliding with a truck on Monday, leaving more than 100 passengers injured. Remarkably, no fatalities have been reported.

The 20-carriage train was traveling from Kazan in the Republic of Tatarstan to Adler near Sochi when it collided with a truck at approximately 12:30 PM local time, according to officials.

The collision caused nine of the carriages to derail.

Governor Andrey Bocharov of the Volgograd Region stated that the train had 813 passengers on board.

Following the accident, at least 110 passengers were reported injured, with 16 requiring hospitalization. Fortunately, there have been no fatalities.

The truck driver, though surviving the crash, suffered injuries to his head and legs.

A criminal investigation into the cause of the collision has been initiated.

Authorities are working to determine the circumstances that led to this significant derailment.

This incident however has raised concerns over railway safety and the need for stringent measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.

As the investigation unfolds, it will be crucial to address any lapses or issues that contributed to this accident.
