Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre In Paris Takes Centre Stage During Jaishankar Visit

India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar visited the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre in Paris and praised its renewed infrastructure as a key platform for promoting Indian heritage abroad. He expressed confidence that the upgraded centre will strengthen interest in India’s artistic and spiritual traditions.

In a message shared on X, Jaishankar noted that the centre reflects rich cultural expressions, showcasing India’s civilisational depth through visual and artistic displays.

The facility features elaborate murals depicting the tree of life with elephants and peacocks, alongside finely detailed miniature paintings rooted in spiritual symbolism.

The centre operates under the Indian Council for Cultural Relations and plays a pivotal role in strengthening Indo-French engagement. It aligns with commitments made during discussions between PM Narendra Modi and Emmanuel Macron to expand cultural institutions across Europe.

Jaishankar arrived in France on March 27 to attend the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.

During the sessions, he emphasised the strategic relevance of the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor in enhancing global connectivity.

The Minister stated that instability in West Asia underscores the necessity for resilient trade routes and secure supply networks. He further highlighted that India’s trade agreements with major partners, including the European Union, European Free Trade Association, and the United Kingdom, have significantly reinforced the corridor’s potential.

Jaishankar also welcomed growing international support for the initiative and reiterated the need for reforms in the United Nations Security Council, while drawing attention to concerns faced by the Global South.
