President Trump Signals ‘Deep’ US-Iran Ceasefire Talks; Warns Of Strong Action

US President Donald Trump has said the United States is engaged in ‘deep’ negotiations with Iran to secure a ceasefire, while stressing that Washington will not withdraw midway from the conflict. His remarks, reported by Israeli media, signal continued diplomatic efforts alongside firm warnings.

Trump stated that his administration is maintaining contact with Iran through multiple channels, led by advisers Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

According to sources, the dialogue includes indirect mediation by countries such as Pakistan, Egypt and Turkey, along with direct exchanges involving Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi.

The mediators aim to help both sides reach an understanding that could extend the US-imposed deadline.

Recent communications, however, have not resulted in significant progress, indicating persistent challenges in securing a breakthrough.

In an interview with Channel 12, Trump said there is a ‘good chance’ of reaching an agreement before the approaching deadline, but warned that failure would prompt strong US action in the region. He later posted a message referencing ‘Tuesday, 8:00 PM Eastern Time’, suggesting a possible extension for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

Earlier, the US President had cautioned that failure to comply could result in severe consequences.

In remarks to The Wall Street Journal and Fox News, Trump reiterated that the US could take decisive steps, including targeting key infrastructure, if Iran does not meet the deadline. He also said he hopes to reach an agreement to end the conflict soon.
