President Trump Highlights ‘Very Good’ Talk With PM Modi; Signals Israel-Lebanon Ceasefire Progress

US President Donald Trump stated that he had a ‘very good talk’ with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, describing the discussion as encouraging and constructive.

“I had a very good talk with him, he’s doing great,” Trump said, reflecting positively on Modi’s leadership.

While speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump outlined efforts to secure a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon. He suggested that a temporary agreement, possibly involving Hezbollah, was nearing completion.

“They’re all agreeing it’s a very nice little package for about a week,” he said, indicating optimism about the arrangement.

Trump confirmed that he had held discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and leaders from Lebanon as part of diplomatic outreach.

“We’re going to be meeting with Bibi Netanyahu and the President of Lebanon,” he said, hinting at upcoming engagements.

The US President also underlined the significance of these developments.

“It’s very exciting because it’s 48 years,” Trump said, referring to the long gap in meaningful progress.

The US President pointed to the possibility of direct dialogue between Israel and Lebanon.

“We’re going to have a meeting for the first time in 44 years,” he said, adding that the White House could host such a meeting.

Trump indicated that he might travel to Pakistan upon concluding a related agreement.

“I would go to Pakistan, yeah, Islamabad, I’ll be, I might go,” he said, mentioning Islamabad as a potential stop.

The US President further added, “If signing the deal takes place in Islamabad, I might go if invited,” suggesting the visit would depend on diplomatic outcomes.

Trump also spoke favourably about ties with Pakistan.

“Pakistan has been great, exceptionally great,” he said.

Trump emphasised that the objective of these initiatives is to curb violence and encourage stability.

“We’re not going to have lots of bombs dropping, we’re going to see if we can make peace between Lebanon and Israel,” he said.

The US President expressed confidence regarding Hezbollah’s response.

“I think they will,” he said, referring to expectations of compliance.

Trump further noted Lebanon’s role in the process.

“They’re going to take care of Hezbollah; they’ll be working on Hezbollah right now,” he said.

Trump suggested that progress would occur soon.

“Over the next week or two,” he said when asked about the timeline.

The US President also signalled openness to visiting the region if developments continue.

“I would certainly go there at the right time,” he said.

Trump’s comments illustrate an expanding US diplomatic effort across South Asia and the Middle East, as Washington seeks progress on multiple fronts, including regional stability and ongoing negotiations involving Iran.
