Hardik Pandya Calls For Tough Decisions After Mumbai Indians’ Fourth Straight Loss In IPL 2026

Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya acknowledged the need for a detailed review after the side recorded a fourth consecutive defeat in the Indian Premier League 2026 season. The team went down to the Punjab Kings at the Wankhede Stadium.

Quinton de Kock delivered an impressive unbeaten 112 off 60 balls, while Naman Dhir added 50 from 31 deliveries. Together, they rebuilt the innings with a 123-run stand for the third wicket after an early collapse to 12/2.

Even with this recovery, the Mumbai Indians managed 195/6, which proved inadequate.

Punjab Kings completed the chase with ease, led by Prabhsimran Singh, who scored an unbeaten 80, and Shreyas Iyer, who contributed 66. The side reached 198/3, securing victory by seven wickets with 21 balls remaining.

After the match, Pandya admitted that the team must evaluate its shortcomings.

“To be honest, I don’t have much to say. We need to go back and see where we’re lacking – if it’s individuals, groups, or planning and work it out,” he said.

Pandya credited the Punjab Kings for executing their plans more effectively, particularly in changing conditions.

“Credit to PBKS, the ball started reversing. Dew came in the second innings, but they beat us. They bowled and fielded better.”

The captain indicated that the team might need to make firm decisions to turn their campaign around.

“We need to see if we need to make difficult calls or see if we continue and turn things around. Ownership has to be taken,” Pandya said.

With four defeats in a row, the Mumbai Indians now face mounting pressure to improve their performances. The team will aim to address its weaknesses quickly to revive its campaign and avoid further setbacks.
