PM Narendra Modi received a spiritually resonant welcome upon his arrival in Rio de Janeiro for the 17th BRICS Summit.
A local Brazilian musical ensemble performed the revered Sanskrit mantra ‘Om Gan Ganpataye Namah’, blending Indian devotional rhythms with Brazilian musical arrangements.
Both male and female vocalists participated, creating an atmosphere of reverence and cultural harmony.
Visibly moved, Prime Minister Modi stood with folded hands and a smile throughout the performance. After the ceremony, he met the performers backstage, personally shaking hands and thanking each one of them.
“It gave us so much hope and joy to see Prime Minister Modi truly enjoying the performance,” one of the artists shared. “He shook hands with each of us and thanked us personally. It was a very special moment, something we will never forget.”
The spiritually charged performance set a symbolic tone for PM Modi’s four-day visit to Brazil, reflecting India’s cultural diplomacy and growing global soft power.
PM Modi’s arrival in Brazil marks the fourth stop of his five-nation diplomatic tour. He previously visited Argentina, where he held extensive bilateral discussions with President Javier Milei.
In Brazil, PM Modi will participate in the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, followed by a formal state visit to Brasília at the invitation of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The summit is expected to focus on global cooperation, emerging economies, and pressing geopolitical issues.
Posting on social media platform X, PM Modi wrote, “Landed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil where I will take part in the BRICS Summit and later go to their capital, Brasília, for a state visit on the invitation of President Lula. Hoping for a productive round of meetings and interactions during this visit.”
PM Modi’s presence at the BRICS Summit reinforces India’s commitment to multilateralism and international collaboration.
The bloc, now expanded to include Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, plays a significant role in shaping global economic and political narratives.
