PM Modi Receives Rousing Welcome From Indian Diaspora On Arrival In Israel

Prime Minister Narendra Modi received an emphatic welcome from the Indian community upon his arrival at his hotel in Tel Aviv, Israel, on Wednesday afternoon. The reception reflected India’s enduring civilisational ethos and showcased the diaspora’s abiding patriotic fervour.

Members of the community staged vibrant cultural performances and greeted him with resounding chants of ‘Modi, Modi’, ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Mataram’.

The Prime Minister acknowledged the performers and applauded their efforts. The atmosphere brimmed with pride and visible affection for India.

Earlier, PM Modi held a private discussion with his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu at Ben-Gurion International Airport shortly after landing for his two-day State Visit.

The leaders reviewed bilateral cooperation and assessed regional developments. Netanyahu described the relationship as one of ‘real friendship’ and referred to PM Modi as his ‘great friend’.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude for the warm welcome. He said the discussions covered technology, water management, agriculture and talent partnerships.

PM Modi also emphasised the vast potential for collaboration and addressed pressing regional issues.

Netanyahu and his wife, Sara Netanyahu, personally received the visiting leader at the airport in a special gesture.

The Israeli Prime Minister praised him as a ‘great leader’ as the two exchanged a warm embrace.

Netanyahu later noted the symbolic match between PM Modi’s pocket square and Sara Netanyahu’s saffron attire.

Netanyahu confirmed that both leaders would attend a reception at the Knesset, visit an innovation event in Jerusalem, and hold further talks with their delegations. They plan to sign agreements spanning economic, security and diplomatic cooperation. The itinerary also includes a visit to Yad Vashem.

PM Modi stated that he felt honoured by the airport reception and looked forward to substantive outcomes. He further highlighted the robust and multifaceted Strategic Partnership between the two nations.

During the visit, he will also meet President Isaac Herzog and address the Israeli Parliament, becoming the first Indian Prime Minister to do so.
