PM Modi Holds Extensive Talks With Jordan Crown Prince; Focus On Youth, Innovation And Growth

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday placed India-Jordan relations firmly in a forward-looking strategic frame as he lauded Crown Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II for his leadership and contributions to Jordan’s social and developmental transformation.

The Prime Minister highlighted the Crown Prince’s work in youth empowerment, innovation, sports, space, and welfare for persons with disabilities, underlining shared priorities between the two nations.

Posting on X after his engagements in Amman, Prime Minister Modi said he held extensive interactions with the Crown Prince. He expressed admiration for the Crown Prince’s passion for Jordan’s progress.

PM Modi described Al-Hussein’s initiatives as ‘truly remarkable’ and wished him success in strengthening Jordan’s growth trajectory.

The remarks carried diplomatic weight, reflecting India’s intent to deepen engagement with Jordan’s next generation of leadership.

The visit also featured strong personal diplomacy.

In a rare and symbolic gesture, Crown Prince Al-Hussein personally drove Prime Minister Modi to the airport as he departed for Ethiopia, reinforcing warmth and mutual respect at the highest level.

Earlier in the day, the Crown Prince had also driven PM Modi to the Jordan Museum in Amman, underscoring the informality and trust that marked the visit.

At the museum, PM Modi and the Crown Prince explored shared civilisational links between India and Jordan. Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, Vice-Chair of the Jordan Museum, gave them a special tour highlighting centuries-old cultural and historical connections.

The Ministry of External Affairs described the visit as a reflection of ‘Vikas bhi, Virasat bhi’, blending development with heritage.

Economic cooperation formed another pillar of the visit.

PM Modi addressed the India-Jordan Business Forum, where he outlined opportunities to expand trade, investment, and business collaboration.

He further proposed a bold target of boosting bilateral trade to $5 billion and called for closer integration between Jordan’s digital payment systems and India’s Unified Payments Interface, signalling India’s readiness to export its digital public infrastructure model.

The visit yielded concrete outcomes.

India and Jordan finalised multiple Memoranda of Understanding. These cover culture, renewable energy, water management, and digital public infrastructure.

The two countries also agreed on a twinning arrangement between Petra and Ellora. These agreements, however, reflected a shift from symbolic engagement to practical cooperation aligned with development priorities.

Strategically, the engagements reinforced India’s expanding footprint in West Asia through balanced partnerships.

By engaging both King Abdullah II and Crown Prince Al-Hussein, PM Modi demonstrated continuity and depth in India’s regional diplomacy. He anchored India’s outreach in stability, economic growth, and people-centric cooperation.

After concluding his Jordan visit, PM Modi departed for Ethiopia at the invitation of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.
