PM Modi Heads To G7 Summit In Evian After Slovakia Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Evian to attend the G7 Summit, concluding his two-nation diplomatic tour.

French President Emmanuel Macron will likely welcome the Prime Minister as he arrives for the international gathering.

India’s presence at the summit underlines its expanding role in shaping conversations on major global political and economic issues.

During the summit, PM Modi will join fellow leaders in a session themed ‘Forging New Partnerships and Rebuilding International Solidarity’.

Representatives from leading economies, partner nations, and international financial institutions will take part in the discussions.

Participants will likely explore measures aimed at boosting global cooperation, addressing economic pressures, and supporting long-term sustainable development.

Alongside the summit programme, PM Modi will likely meet several international leaders, including Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He is also likely to hold talks with US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the summit.

Later, the Prime Minister will attend an official dinner hosted by President Emmanuel Macron.

India is participating in the G7 Summit for the 13th time this year.

The summit will also mark PM Modi’s seventh consecutive attendance at the forum.

Over the years, India has used such platforms to highlight the priorities and concerns of developing nations.

The Ministry of External Affairs has emphasised that India continues to contribute actively to discussions on peace, security, development, and environmental sustainability.

A bilateral meeting between PM Modi and President Trump will likely take place on 17 June during the summit.

The discussions are likely to focus on ongoing negotiations concerning a proposed trade agreement between India and the United States.

Officials from both sides are expected to assess recent progress and explore ways to deepen economic cooperation between the two countries.
