Authorities in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, responded to a mass shooting late Sunday night in East Liberty, where gunfire broke out near North Saint Clair Street and Broad Street.
The Pittsburgh Department of Public Safety confirmed that Zone 5 officers were dispatched just after 11:45 PM, following two separate ShotSpotter alerts that detected a total of 14 gunshots.
While officers were en route, emergency calls reported multiple shooting victims.
Pittsburgh EMS transported three victims to hospitals:
Shortly after, two more victims, both with gunshot wounds, arrived at Children’s Hospital by private vehicle and remained in stable condition.
Additionally, EMS treated around 10 individuals on-site for graze wounds and minor injuries caused by falls.
These people did not require hospitalisation.
The Mobile Crime Unit arrived to recover shell casings and secure video evidence.
The Violent Crime Unit has taken over the investigation, which remains active. Authorities have made no arrests so far.
In a separate incident early Monday, gunfire erupted near Monument Circle in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) reported that officers found three people shot at the intersection of South Meridian and West Washington Streets.
All three victims are currently in stable condition.
Police have launched an investigation to determine the cause and identify suspects.
