‘Living Bridge’ Between Nations: PM Modi Praises Indian Community In Tashkent

On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the role of the Indian diaspora in strengthening ties between India and Uzbekistan after receiving a warm welcome from the community in Tashkent.

PM Modi said the Indian community serves as a ‘living bridge’ between the two countries and praised the warmth shown by diaspora members during his visit.

“Overwhelmed by the warmth and affection of the Indian community in Tashkent. Our diaspora is a living bridge between India and Uzbekistan, strengthening the bonds of friendship between our nations,” PM Modi posted on X.

The welcome included performances blending Indian and Uzbek musical traditions.

PM Modi highlighted a performance featuring the tabla alongside Uzbekistan’s doira and chang instruments, saying it reflected the close cultural connection between the two nations.

Several women from the community tied rakhis on PM Modi’s wrist as he interacted with those gathered. He watched dance performances by children and later greeted the young performers.

Earlier, PM Modi began his two-day State Visit by paying respects at the Yangi Uzbekistan Monument in Tashkent alongside Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The two leaders viewed artworks depicting Uzbek culture and history at Yangi Uzbekistan Park.

PM Modi described the monument as a representation of the aspirations and progress of the Uzbek people.

Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Glad to begin my visit by coming here.”

PM Modi expressed gratitude to President Mirziyoyev for personally receiving him at the airport. He further said the gesture reflected the growing momentum in bilateral relations and noted that this is his fourth visit to Uzbekistan.
