Israeli Embassy Removes A Video Presuming Hamas Attack In Seoul

Seoul’s foreign ministry stated Thursday that the Israeli embassy in South Korea has withdrawn a video depicting a hypothetical scenario in which Koreans are attacked by masked assailants in Seoul.

In a statement, the ministry stated that the video was inappropriate and that it had requested that the Israeli embassy remove it.

The video, which is no longer available on the embassy’s social media, depicted a harrowing scenario in which a South Korean woman in the capital is kidnapped by an armed assailant on Christmas Day, and forcibly separated from her young daughter, according to a clip published by South Korean broadcaster.

“On October 7th, Israel was attacked by Hamas terrorists. 1,200 men, women, and children were killed, and over 240 people were taken hostage in Gaza”, the Israeli embassy wrote with the now-deleted video on its Facebook account on Tuesday.

It went on to say, “Imagine if it happened to you. What would you do?”

South Korea technically remains at war with nuclear-armed North Korea since their 1950-53 military battle concluded in an armistice rather than a peace treaty.

“We have reconstructed the horrifying terrorist incident that took place on October 7th to help South Koreans in East Asia, far away from Israel, understand the current war situation”, Israel’s ambassador in Seoul, Akiva Tor stated in a social media post that has been deleted.

Israel has repeatedly threatened to continue its battle to eliminate the Palestinian group Hamas in retaliation for its October 7 strike, which killed approximately 1,140 people.

According to Israel, Hamas operatives allegedly captured roughly 250 captives, 129 of whom are still held captive.

As per the recent toll from Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry, Israel’s continuous shelling and ground invasion have killed at least 21,110 civilians.

“The killing and kidnapping of Israeli civilians by Hamas cannot be justified, but the Israeli Embassy’s production and distribution of a video drawing parallels to the security situation in another country was deemed inappropriate”, the South Korean foreign ministry continued.

“We have conveyed our position to the Israeli Embassy in South Korea, and the Israeli side has taken measures to delete the video in question”, the South Korean foreign ministry added.
