The Palestinian health ministry stated that six Palestinians were killed by a drone strike during an Israeli raid in the West Bank city of Tulkarm on Wednesday.
According to the Israeli military, during a counter-terrorism operation, Israeli forces were attacked by militants who tossed explosive devices at them.
“The attackers were struck by an Israeli Air Force aircraft”, the Israeli military reported.
The clash occurred in the Nour Shams refugee camp in Tulkarm, a flashpoint city on one of the key crossing points into the West Bank.
According to the witnesses, the six young men killed in the strike were seated together in the early hours but were not involved in fights with Israeli soldiers conducting a raid in other parts of the camp.
“We heard the sound, and the screaming, our house is nearby so we came out to see”, a resident, Izzaldin Assaili explained.
As per the report, the young men were aged between 17 and 29. Another guy, 24, died of wounds received in a skirmish last month.
The Israeli military did not immediately respond with a detailed statement about the incident.
During the 18 months preceding the October 7 attack on Israel by Hamas terrorists, the West Bank had already been seeing the worst levels of unrest in decades, but confrontations have risen sharply as Israel has launched a ground invasion of Gaza.
Hundreds of Palestinians have been killed in clashes with Israeli soldiers and settlers in recent weeks, while security forces have made thousands of arrests, with military and Palestinian protesters clashing repeatedly.
