Israel Reaffirms Commitment To Expand Defence Ties With India

Major General (Retd) Amir Baram, Director General of Israel’s Ministry of Defence, met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi on Monday and conveyed Israel’s commitment to expanding defence cooperation with India under the framework of the India-Israel Special Strategic Partnership.

According to the Defence Minister’s Office, Baram briefed Singh on Israel’s plans to deepen bilateral defence engagement.

Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, Israel’s Ambassador to India Reuven Azar, and other officials were present during the meeting.

Following the meeting, Ambassador Azar thanked Singh for hosting the Israeli delegation and highlighted ongoing efforts to develop joint projects aimed at further strengthening the partnership between the two countries.

The meeting comes amid growing defence and strategic cooperation between India and Israel, with both nations continuing to explore new avenues of collaboration.

In April, India’s Ambassador to Israel, JP Singh, reaffirmed New Delhi’s commitment to strengthening the Special Strategic Partnership during a meeting with Israeli President Isaac Herzog on the occasion of Israel’s 78th Independence Day.

The latest engagement follows a significant development in February, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agreed to elevate bilateral ties to a Special Strategic Partnership during PM Modi’s two-day visit to Israel.

The two leaders also discussed accelerating cooperation across multiple sectors, including trade, economic engagement, and emerging technologies.

As part of these efforts, India and Israel decided to establish a Critical and Emerging Technologies Partnership to enhance collaboration in futuristic and innovation-driven fields.
