India’s Drone Destination To Set Up European Subsidiary In Cyprus

Indian drone technology and training company Drone Destination announced plans to establish its European subsidiary in Cyprus, marking a major step toward expanding its footprint across Europe.

The announcement came during PM Narendra Modi’s recent official visit to the Republic of Cyprus.

Cyprus-based unit to drive drone development

The Cyprus-based subsidiary will focus on drone development, services, training, and drone sports, building a comprehensive, innovation-led ecosystem for unmanned aerial systems.

The initiative aims to support sectors such as defence, agriculture, logistics, infrastructure monitoring, STEM education, and entertainment.

Indian envoy welcomes investment in future-tech

India’s High Commissioner to Cyprus, Manish, welcomed the move.

“We encourage Indian companies like Drone Destination to invest in Cyprus, especially in forward-looking sectors like drone technology and artificial intelligence,” he said. “This aligns with Prime Minister Modi’s vision to make India a global drone hub by 2030. Cyprus can act as a gateway for these innovations into Europe.”

Cyprus eyes global drone leadership

Marios Tannousis, CEO of Invest Cyprus, highlighted the country’s ambitions.

“Drone Destination’s plan offers Cyprus the chance to emerge as a secure, sovereign, and innovation-driven drone hub for Europe and trusted global partners,” he said.

Drone Destination confirmed ongoing discussions with both government and private entities to build a state-of-the-art drone ecosystem.

The company aims to deliver sovereign capabilities, attract foreign direct investment, and position Cyprus as a global innovation leader in drone technology.

India-Cyprus collaboration gains momentum

Drone Destination Chairman Alok Sharma expressed pride in exporting India’s expertise.

“We’re excited to bring India’s proven experience in drone services and pilot training to this joint venture. This partnership will combine India’s scale and innovation with Cyprus’s strategic advantages, including IP protection and policy clarity,” he said.

Industry experts see Cyprus as a key launchpad for Indian unmanned aerial systems to enter markets across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

PM Modi’s push to promote drone usage in India has helped Indian companies explore global opportunities.
