Hezbollah’s Logistics Chief Abbas Hassan Karky Killed In Israeli Strike: IDF Confirms

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Friday that it had killed a senior Hezbollah commander during an airstrike in southern Lebanon.

According to an official statement, Abbas Hassan Karky, who served as the logistics chief of Hezbollah’s Southern Front headquarters, killed in the Nabatieh area.

The IDF said Karky led recent efforts to rebuild Hezbollah’s military infrastructure damaged in earlier clashes.

The Israeli military said Karky ‘led and advanced efforts to restore Hezbollah’s operational capabilities’, overseeing the reconstruction of destroyed facilities and managing the movement and storage of weapons in southern Lebanon.

Lebanon’s National News Agency also confirmed that an Israeli airstrike hit a vehicle on a road in the region, killing Karky.

A Lebanese security source, speaking to Xinhua, identified him as a Hezbollah member but declined to provide further information.

Lebanese media reports indicated that Karky was related to Ali Karaki, the former Southern Front commander who was assassinated alongside Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah last year.

The strike came a day after Israel carried out a series of attacks across Lebanon, targeting what it described as Hezbollah military sites, including a weapons depot and a training facility.

The strikes killed four people, including an elderly woman, according to Lebanese officials.

On Wednesday, Israel had also reported killing a platoon commander from Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force, accusing him of transporting weapons and planning future attacks.

In each instance, Israel said its actions were justified by violations of the ceasefire agreement currently in place.

The truce between Israel and Hezbollah, implemented on 27 November 2024, has mostly reduced hostilities sparked by the Gaza conflict.

However, the IDF continues to conduct limited operations inside Lebanon, citing ongoing ‘security threats’ from Hezbollah and maintaining positions along five key points on the border.
