Tesla CEO Elon Musk has reportedly unveiled a new Roadster prototype that briefly lifted off the ground during a demonstration at a SpaceX facility in Texas. A video shared on social media platform X showed the vehicle navigating an elevated, curved track before becoming airborne for a short distance and landing safely. The demonstration sparked comparisons with flying car technology.

The showcase has renewed interest in Tesla’s Roadster project, which Musk first announced nearly a decade ago. However, the company has not announced a confirmed commercial launch date for any flying capability.
The demonstration reportedly featured a specialised propulsion system combining an electric vehicle platform with high-pressure air tanks and thrusters.
According to the claims surrounding the showcase, strategically positioned thrusters could generate lift and improve vehicle control while airborne.
The reported demonstration drew enthusiastic reactions from company executives and observers interested in the future of transportation. However, Tesla has yet to confirm when such technology might become commercially available.
Musk reportedly said the vehicle would remain practical for everyday use, although local regulations could determine whether its proposed capabilities would be legal on public roads.
The event also highlighted the Roadster’s claimed acceleration performance. The vehicle reportedly reached 60 miles per hour from a standstill in less than one second, a figure that would place it among the quickest vehicles demonstrated.
Tesla has previously positioned the Roadster as its flagship performance model, designed to showcase the potential of electric-vehicle technology.
The vehicle is expected to offer a driving range of around 300 miles and a top speed exceeding 230 miles per hour.
However, these specifications and the reported airborne demonstration require independent verification before publication.
