A high-level Indian multi-party delegation led by NCP-SP leader Supriya Sule held key discussions with Egyptian Senate members on Monday, conveying India’s unwavering stance against terrorism.
The delegation, representing India’s diplomatic outreach, engaged with senior Egyptian lawmakers, reaffirming the strategic bond between the two nations.
The Indian delegates met Senator Hossam Al-Khouly of Mostaqbal Watan Party, Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Hazem Omar, and other Parliamentary Committee members.
The Egyptian Senate expressed solidarity with India and underscored the importance of India-Egypt strategic ties.
The Indian delegation arrived in Egypt as part of its wider diplomatic mission under Operation Sindoor.
The Indian Ambassador to Egypt, Suresh Reddy, received the delegates upon arrival.
The delegation delivered a unified message of zero tolerance against terrorism, particularly in the context of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam on 22 April.
The delegation includes BJP leaders Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Anurag Thakur, V Muraleedharan, Congress leaders Manish Tewari and Anand Sharma, AAP’s Vikramjeet Singh Sawhney, TDP’s Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu, and former diplomat Syed Akbaruddin.
They are scheduled to meet Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and League of Arab States Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit.
The group will also interact with the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs (ECFA).
The delegation will lay floral tributes at Mahatma Gandhi’s bust in El-Horreya Park, visit the Heliopolis War Memorial, and meet with Indian community members, scholars, journalists, and policymakers.
These engagements highlight India’s aim to build stronger ties with Egypt and the Arab world while countering terrorism.
Prior to Egypt, the delegation visited Ethiopia, where they engaged with local dignitaries, academics, media, and civil society.
The delegates shared details of India’s measured response to the Pahalgam attack, emphasising that Operation Sindoor was targeted and proportionate.
The Indian Embassy in Addis Ababa noted that the Ethiopian leadership reaffirmed their zero-tolerance approach to terrorism. Indian delegates thanked Ethiopia for its support and solidarity.
Indian community members in Ethiopia were praised for championing pluralism and unity amid divisive forces.
The visit to Egypt continues India’s diplomatic outreach to secure international backing against cross-border terrorism originating from Pakistan.
