Crown Prince Escorts PM Modi To Jordan Museum To Strengthen Bilateral Ties

In a remarkable gesture, Crown Prince Al Hussein Bin Abdullah II personally drove Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Jordan Museum on Tuesday.

The Crown Prince, a 42nd-generation direct descendant of Prophet Mohammad, welcomed the Indian leader during his two-day visit to the country.

Sharing photographs on X, PM Modi wrote, “On the way to The Jordan Museum with His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II.”

The museum, which showcases 1.5 million years of Jordanian history and archaeology, aims to preserve and present the nation’s rich cultural heritage through exhibitions, research, and educational programmes.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi highlighted the outcomes of his visit, describing them as a ‘meaningful expansion’ of the bilateral partnership.

On Monday, he met King Abdullah II at the Al Husseiniya Palace, proposing an increase in bilateral trade to USD 5 billion and collaboration between India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and Jordan’s digital payment system.

Key Agreements and MoUs Finalised

The two sides also finalised several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) covering culture, renewable energy, water management, digital public infrastructure, and a twinning arrangement between Petra and Ellora.

Commenting on the agreements, PM Modi emphasised India and Jordan’s shared commitment to clean growth, energy security, and climate responsibility. He further added that cooperation in water resources management would enable both countries to exchange best practices in conservation and technology, ensuring long-term water security.

The Twinning Agreement between Petra and Ellora is expected to promote heritage conservation, tourism, and academic exchanges.

Meanwhile, the renewal of the Cultural Exchange Programme (2025-2029) aims to deepen people-to-people ties, and India’s digital expertise will support Jordan’s technological transformation.

During discussions, both leaders also shared perspectives on regional developments and global issues, reaffirming the importance of peace and stability.

PM Modi reiterated India’s support for durable peace efforts in the region.

The Prime Minister arrived in Amman on Monday afternoon to begin his three-nation tour, which will include Ethiopia and Oman.

Jordanian Prime Minister Jafar Hassan welcomed PM Modi at the airport, marking the start of his first full-fledged bilateral visit to Jordan.
