Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi : Ready To Work With India

Chinese Foreign Minister: Wang Yi on Sunday said his country is ready to work with India through steady and sound growth. Addressing the reporters on China’s relations with India, Wang Yi said that both countries have maintained communication through various channels and are committed to upholding stability in the border area.

“China and India have maintained communication through diplomatic and military-to-military channels, and both countries committed to upholding stability in border areas,” the Chinese Foreign Minister said at a media briefing on Sunday.

“We stand ready to work with India in the direction toward steady and sound growth of China-India relations,” he added.

A violent face-off broke out between Indian and Chinese troops in the Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh on 9December 2022, which led to injuries to a few personnel on both sides.

Days after the clash, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said in Parliament that the Chinese side tried to “unilaterally” change the status quo along the Line of Actual Control in the Yangtse area of Tawang but the Indian Army compelled them to retreat in a firm and resolute manner.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said in the Parliament that none of the Indian security personnel was injured or martyred in the clash.

After the clash, the Ministry of External Affairs in a statement said that India and China held the 17th round of Corps Commander Level Meeting at the Chushul-Moldo border meeting point on the Chinese side on December 20 and agreed to maintain the security and stability on the ground in the Western Sector.

“In the interim, the two sides agreed to maintain the security and stability on the ground in the Western Sector,” according to the statement.

The Ministry of External Affairs statement said the two sides agreed to stay in close contact, and maintain dialogue through military and diplomatic channels and work out a mutually acceptable resolution of the remaining issues at the earliest.

The Opposition had cornered the government on the issue forcing repeated adjournments in the final days of the winter session of the Parliament over their demand for a discussion resulting in the conclusion of the Winter Session on Friday, six days ahead of schedule.
