China Opens Doors To International Collaboration For Global Peace & Progress

Chinese President Xi Jinping declared on Wednesday that China stands ready to collaborate with all nations to advance world peace and development.

In his 2026 New Year’s message, Xi reflected on China’s strides in embracing global engagement over the past year.

Xi highlighted China’s proactive measures against climate change, including the announcement of new Nationally Determined Contributions. He also detailed the launch of three global initiatives addressing development, security, and civilisation.

Building on these, Xi introduced the Global Governance Initiative, aiming to create a more just and equitable international system.

“China always stands on the right side of history,” he affirmed.

Xi Jinping reiterated that China’s reunification remains unstoppable. He emphasised the deep cultural and familial bonds shared by Chinese people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.

“The reunification of our motherland, a trend of the times, is unstoppable,” he asserted during his address in Beijing.

Regarding Hong Kong and Macao, Xi emphasised the unwavering implementation of the ‘one country, two systems’ policy. He underscored the importance of integrating the two special administrative regions into the nation’s overall development while maintaining long-term stability and prosperity.

Xi also spotlighted China’s technological and industrial integration, noting a surge of innovations, particularly in artificial intelligence.

Many large AI models competed in a rapid advancement race, propelling China to become one of the fastest-growing innovation-driven economies.

He highlighted several landmark projects of 2025: the Tianwen-2 probe began its journey to explore asteroids and comets; construction of the lower Yarlung Zangbo hydropower project commenced; and China officially commissioned its first aircraft carrier with an electromagnetic catapult system.

Humanoid robots performed kung fu routines, and drones staged spectacular light shows, showcasing China’s creativity and technological prowess.

“Inventions and innovations have boosted new quality productive forces and added colourful dimensions to our lives,” Xi further said, reflecting on the country’s achievements.

Xi’s message underscored China’s dual focus on global responsibility and domestic advancement.

By merging diplomacy, scientific progress, and strategic development, China aims to assert leadership in innovation while championing global peace and equity.

Through this vision, Xi Jinping signals a confident and ambitious China for 2026. He underscored a path that:

  • Embraces international cooperation,
  • Prioritises sustainable development, and
  • Leverages cutting-edge technology to strengthen national and global influence
