A mining accident in northeast China on Thursday killed twelve people and injured thirteen.
The incident occurred on Wednesday at 3:50 p.m. local time (0750 GMT) in a coal mine on the outskirts of Jixi City in Heilongjiang province.
According to the report, all of them were taken to a hospital for treatment.
The cause of the accident is still being investigated.
In recent decades, mining safety in China has improved, as has media coverage of important accidents, many of which were once previously missed.
Accidents, however, remain widespread in an industry with a poor safety record and where regulations are not always strictly followed.
According to official figures, 245 individuals died in 168 accidents last year.
An accident at another coal mine in Heilongjiang killed 11 workers in November.
A coal mine fire in southwest China’s Guizhou province killed at least 16 people in September.
In February, a coal mine in the remote and sparsely populated Alxa League of northern Inner Mongolia partially collapsed after a 180-metre-high (590-foot) slope broke way.
Dozens of people and vehicles were buried behind a pile of debris, but the ultimate death toll was not revealed for months.
