British Nurse Sacked For Having An Affair With Patient Who Died While Having Sex In Hospital

After hospital administrators in Wales, the United Kingdom, learnt about the nurse’s relationship with a patient who passed away while having sex with her, the nurse was fired. The deceased, who was discovered with his “trousers down” in the back of a car in the hospital parking lot during his final moments, had an over-a-year-long relationship with the nurse, and she admitted to it.

The late-night affair ended in death, and it’s been said that the nurse allegedly neglected to call an ambulance after the man passed away and after he had fainted during the meeting. The 42-year-old nurse has been identified as Penelope Williams.

The patient died at the hospital in Wales following a heart attack while undergoing dialysis. The Times UK reported that the patient had heart failure and chronic kidney illness, both of which were brought on by a medical incident.

A full investigation into the incident was also necessary, as was a trial before a Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) panel.

According to reports, Williams’ coworkers knew about her relationship with the now-deceased patient and some of them even forewarned her of possible negative outcomes. She reportedly disregarded the suggestion, though.

It is reported that the patient was unconscious and partially naked when medical emergency personnel arrived in the parking lot.

INITIAL LIES

In her original statement to the police, Williams claimed that she had simply gone to meet the patient after he had messaged her on Facebook concerning his health. She claimed that she only went to meet him after he claimed to be feeling poorly.

According to The Telegraph, the nurse claimed that they had simply been “just talking” for “30 to 45 minutes” when they were in the backseat.

In February, when she testified in front of the panel, she claimed that the patient suddenly began groaning and then passed away. She then acknowledged having a relationship with him and claimed to have met up with him that evening for a sexual encounter. She revealed her relationships with the deceased at a subsequent hearing in May, which led to her termination from her position.

According to reports, the hospital claimed that the nurse had “discredited the nursing profession.”

The hospital board concluded that Williams’s conduct “were material departures from the standards expected of a registered nurse, and are fundamentally incompatible with her remaining on the register.” Additionally, the hospital argued that allowing Williams to continue working as a nurse would erode public trust in the industry.
