Shakuntla L Bhaya
The White House said that US President Joe Biden has chosen Indian American Shakuntla L Bhaya for a vital position.
The White House stated, “Ms. Bhaya was assigned to the Administrative Conference of the United States Council. It is one of several new appointments announced by Biden on Wednesday”.
Ms. Bhaya is a co-owner of the Law Offices of Doroshow, Pasquale, Krawitz & Bhaya, a statewide Delaware law firm.
According to the White House, her practice focuses on representing those who have been gravely hurt as a result of businesses and individuals making unsafe decisions.
Ms. Bhaya has served on Governor Carney’s Judicial Nominating Commission for the past seven years. Indian American is active in Delaware politics in addition to practicing law.
Ms. Bhaya is currently a member of the Delaware Democratic Party’s State Executive Committee. Ms. Bhaya, a former President of the Delaware Trial Lawyers Association, is still active in defending consumers’ 7th Amendment Right to a jury trial and access to courts.
Bhaya is also a member of the American Association for Justice and the American Civil Liberties Union, and she works hard to help pro-choice Democratic women get elected to office.
She was an outspoken advocate for the rights of the LGBTQ+ community’s rights, assisting members to adopt children, seeking legal recourse when discriminated against in the workplace, and marrying. Ms. Bhaya is the Delaware Bar Association’s first South Asian Indian member.
Ms. Bhaya continues to advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion in the legal and political professions. Ms. Bhaya attended Northeastern University School of Law.
