Aid-Carrying Trucks Start Entering Into Gaza Via Rafah Border

Trucks transporting humanitarian aid to besieged and war-torn Gaza began entering through the Rafah border crossing on Saturday.

On the 15th day of the war between Israel and Hamas, the militant outfit that rules the Palestinian enclave of 2.4 million people, Egyptian state television showed several trucks entering the gate.

Since Hamas’ bloody surprise attack on October 7, Israel has been bombing Gaza.

Israeli officials claim that at least 1,400 people were killed mostly civilians who were shot, mutilated, or burnt to death, when Hamas surged into Israel from the Gaza Strip, taking more than 200 hostages.

Israel imposed a comprehensive siege on Gaza, cutting off supplies of water, electricity, fuel, and food, resulting in chronic shortages.

Rafah is the sole border crossing into Gaza that is not controlled by Israel, which decided to allow aid from Egypt in response to a plea from its top ally the United States.

For days, cargo planes and trucks have been bringing humanitarian aid to the Egyptian side of Rafah, but none has yet arrived in Gaza.

On Friday, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres visited the Egyptian side of the border to monitor preparations for the aid delivery.

Antonio Guterres stated, “These trucks are not just trucks, they are a lifeline”.

“They are the difference between life and death for so many people in Gaza”, Guterres added.
