Imran Khan in Toshakhana Case: On Saturday afternoon, the Former Prime minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan was declared guilty by the court. He is sentenced to 3 years of jail in Toshakhana Case. Judge Humayun Dilawar announced that involvement in corrupt practices has been proven.

A very astounding fact is that Imran Khan himself was not present at the court hearing. The hearing was going on at Islamabad High Court. The judge ordered his arrest in the haring.

150 Cases against Imran Khan in Toshakhana Case

Since his removal in April of last year, Khan has had more than 150 complaints lodged against him. There are many complaints that Mr. Khan claims are politically motivated. The defense team for Khan announced that they would immediately appeal.

Imran Khan arrested

Following a court’s three-year prison term for unlawfully selling official goods, police in the eastern city of Lahore detained the former prime minister of Pakistan on Saturday, according to his attorney.

A conviction in the case, according to legal experts, might eliminate Khan’s hopes of running in the national elections. They must be held by early November. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the political party of Khan, declared in a statement that they had previously appealed the district court case to the nation’s Supreme Court.

The Toshakhana Case

The 70-year-old former cricketer-turned-politician was charged with abusing his position as prime minister. He purchased and re-sold goods acquired during foreign trips valued at more than 140 million Pakistani rupees ($635,000).  Khan, however has denied doing anything illegal.

Miserable financial crises are going on in Pakistan, where people are not even able to buy basic food and amenities. Amidst all that, the country’s top officials or politicians rather than saving their nation are busy filling up their own pockets.
