1 Killed, 15 Wounded In US Airstrike On Yemen’s Capital

At least one person was killed and 15 others, including children and women, were wounded in a US airstrike that targeted a residential building in Yemen’s Houthi-controlled capital, Sana’a, on Sunday evening.

The attack occurred in the western suburb of Asr, according to reports from Houthi-run al-Masirah TV.

A preliminary toll reported by al-Masirah TV cited Houthi-controlled health authorities, revealing that the wounded included “three children and two women.”

Local residents described the airstrike as ‘very violent’ and noted that rescue teams continued to search for possible survivors under the rubble.

The US military has yet to issue an official comment on the strike.

Airstrikes Continue Across Yemen

Hours before the Sana’a attack, al-Masirah TV reported that the US military, stationed in the Red Sea, had conducted airstrikes in Yemen’s northern province of Saada.

The targets were areas around the central city of Saada, a stronghold of the Houthis. The TV channel did not provide further details on the damage or casualties from these strikes.

US And Houthi Exchange Fire Amid Ongoing Conflict

The airstrikes came shortly after the Houthis claimed responsibility for fresh attacks on the USS Harry S Truman aircraft carrier in the northern Red Sea and on Ben Gurion Airport in Israel.

The Israeli military intercepted the attack on the airport.

Earlier in the day, the US military had launched a series of airstrikes on Houthi-held areas, including the airport in Hodeidah, a Red Sea port city, though no casualties reported in those attacks.

These latest strikes are part of a broader air campaign by US forces, which began in mid-March.

The campaign targets Houthi-controlled territories in Yemen as the Houthis continue their military actions in the region.

The Houthis, who have controlled much of northern Yemen since the onset of the civil war in 2014, have vowed to continue attacking Israeli targets in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza and as a response to what they call ‘American aggression’.

US President Donald Trump has justified the strikes, claiming that the Houthis have attacked US ships and disrupted international shipping in the Red Sea.

In response, Trump ordered ‘decisive and forceful military action’, warning that the US would use ‘overwhelming and deadly force’ to deter any further attacks that threaten freedom of navigation.
