Samajwadi Party (SP) Chief Akhilesh Yadav took to social media to criticize the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh. He accused the UP police of being handcuffed due to pressure from the BJP, stating that fairness and justice are impossible in such a biased environment. His remarks followed the recent Bahraich murder incident.
Yadav expressed his concerns on X, saying, “The UP police is handcuffed due to pressure from the BJP. It is futile to expect fairness and justice with hands tied.” He implied that the state’s law enforcement is unable to act impartially under the current government.
This comment comes in the context of a recent murder in Bahraich, further sparking debates over the state’s handling of crime and justice.
Sarojini Nagar MLA Rajeshwar Singh quickly responded to Yadav’s allegations on X. He accused the SP Chief of forgetting the ‘jungle raj’ during the SP government. Singh highlighted several incidents from the SP’s tenure, including the 2005 incident where goons dragged a police officer, Rajesh Sahni, from a jeep. Singh added that the SP government harassed IAS officers like Durgashakti Nagpal and Vijay Shankar Pandey.
Singh also praised Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, stating, “UP is the growth engine of the country under @myogiadityanath ji, where criminals and mafias are shown their right place.” He emphasized that the state’s good governance is a model for the entire country.
