A woman at her workplace received a “verbal warning” from HR for talking to a coworker about her period problems. She wrote about her experience in a Reddit post, which generated a conversation there.
I just received a verbal warning for talking about my period at work,” she stated. Apparently, because I’m a supervisor, the standards are “different” because I made someone feel “uncomfortable. One of my supervisees informed me she was experiencing period cramps; I didn’t even bring it up. I acknowledged it to her. It ended there.
I got a talking to from the same HR lady who gave a lecture on gender inequality in the workplace last year,” she continued. Take less time getting ready in the morning so guys will take you seriously, was her piece of advice.
