Disgrace! Farmer Not Allowed To Enter Bengaluru Metro Station Because Of His Clothes; Video Surfaces

Farmers, who are titled the ‘Ann-Daata’ (means God of food) and the same farmer was not allowed to use the popular public transport, Bengaluru Metro just because of his shabby clothes. The farmer who works in fields caring nothing but his crop was not ‘eligible’ to enter the metro station as his looks mattered more than his requirement.

Transportation costs heavens in metro cities like Bengaluru. In addition to the cost, traffic of Bengaluru is renowned for all the negative reasons. Given the above situation, going for Metro seems to be the only way for a common man. But if there is a ‘dress code’ for the same, then this public transport cannot serve its purpose.

Have a look at the video

A man identified as Karthik C. Airani was heard endorsing the farmer and disputing with metro officials at the Rajajinagar metro station in a video posted on X (formerly Twitter). He questioned whether there was a regulation requiring commuters to follow a dress code in order to use the transportation service.

“He is a farmer and possesses the required ticket to travel through the metro. He also does not have any items in his sack that are prohibited from bringing into the metro. He only has clothes. On what basis is he being denied entry?”

“Show me a rule which mandates a dress code for commuters of the metro. Is this a transport restricted to the VIPs? It’s public transport,” Airani was heard arguing with an official in Kannada.

The man got support from another commuter, who also stood up for the farmer’s cause and said that he should be denied entry only if he carried belongings that were banned inside the metro and referred to the official’s behavior as “blatant discrimination”.

“The man is a farmer coming from a village. It is right to deny him entry only if he is in possession of materials that are barred from being brought to the metro service. We would also agree to your denial if the farmer possessed any such material but this is blatant discrimination,” the commuter said.
