Delhi Metro Introduces App To Buy Mobile QR Tickets

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) introduced a new mobile application on Friday, allowing passengers to conveniently book their QR tickets online. The application, called DMRC Travel, was launched by Dr Vikash Kumar. It aims to streamline the ticketing process for commuters. Passengers will receive a QR code after booking their tickets, which they can scan at the metro station for entry.

The DMRC Travel app offers multiple payment options such as UPI, credit and debit cards, and e-wallets. This ensures that passengers have convenient and hassle-free methods of purchasing their mobile QR tickets. Using this app will result in significant reduce the waiting time of commuters at ticket counters and queues, as they can purchase tickets directly from their smartphones.

Initially available for Android users, the DMRC Travel app will soon be made accessible to iOS users as well. This expansion will enable a wider range of passengers to benefit from the convenience and efficiency of booking QR tickets through the mobile app. The DMRC officials expressed their enthusiasm for the new system, stating that it eliminates the need to physically visit ticket counters or vending machines, ultimately enhancing the overall metro travel experience for passengers.

In addition to booking QR tickets, passengers can utilize the app to plan their travel, recharge their smart cards, access a fare calculator, and obtain station information. It also provides valuable details on routes, including interchangeable stations. Furthermore, users can view their transaction history and easily rebook tickets for return journeys with the same origin-destination stations.

To make use of these features and book tickets, users need to download and install the application. After creating an account, they can select the “Buy ticket” option and enter the necessary information such as the origin station. The app offers various options, allowing users to specify the number of tickets, price range, and journey time. Once the payment process is completed, the app generates the QR ticket for the user.

The primary objective of the DMRC Travel app is to provide passengers with a hassle-free and efficient ticketing system that eliminates the need for cash transactions. While the app has been successfully implemented, the DMRC is currently focusing on configuring the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) gates to accommodate the new ticketing method.
