Delhi Man Quits Job On First Day Due To Long Travel, Internet Reacts

These days, several employees have been sharing accounts of their professional lives on social media, including the challenges they face at their workplaces. The posts that garner the most attention are usually job-quitting stories, as they resonate with a lot of users.

An employee leaves his job on his first day due to long travel

Recently, an employee residing in New Delhi shared that he quit his job on the first day owing to a long commute, sparking a discussion on Reddit. He reasoned that he left his job because he felt it would be ”too much travel” for him between his workplace and home. He further mentioned that changing homes was not an option for him, and he was only getting 3 hours of free time apart from sleeping hours at his home.

How has the Internet reacted?

I got a job in a respectable company with a respectable income, he wrote. After a few rounds of interviews, because they needed workers, they immediately hired me. I was excited because it was my first job, but I soon realized that the travel would be too much. I work on “Moulsari Avenue” and reside in northwest Delhi (Pink Line). Considering how introverted I am, I wanted on-site exposure. In light of my calculations, I discovered that I will only spend 3 hours at home (office work and commute included). Additionally, the expense of travel would be about 5,000 Ka every month. I am unable to move.

The majority of established businesses are in Gurugram; therefore, he also asked other Reddit members for advice on what he should do.

Needless to say, his post drew a lot of comments, many of whom described their own commute difficulties and referred to his experience as “common” and his choice as “silly.” Some suggested he move close to his place of employment, while others counseled him to act responsibly and make the most of his commute time. He was reminded by others that taking on a few obstacles early in one’s career is perfectly acceptable.
