In Australia, two friends embarked on a remarkable journey to shatter the record for the most pubs visited in a 24-hour period. You did really read correctly. At midnight, Harry Kooros and Jake Loiterton set out on their bar-hopping escapade. To make history, they went to 99 bars in one day and spent more than AUD 1500 (about ₹ 83,000).
The 26-year-olds set out to break this record in an effort to revitalize Sydney’s nightlife and earn money for a research organization. They began shattering the record at the stroke of midnight. But after two hours, Kooros started to feel the effects of drinking so much fluids and eventually started throwing up.
Fortunately, Kooros told GWR, “I managed to pull it together and continue after reassessing our game plan.”
The two were fatigued by five in the morning after walking considerable miles on foot. They were not allowed to use any kind of private conveyance, including taxis, according to GWR. By nine, they had decided to resume their attempt after taking a break in a park. Going from one pub to another took two of them no more than fourteen minutes. ID checks, standing in line to get drinks, sipping the beverages, and moving on foot to the next site were all part of this time frame.
“Too many to count, we both had countless bathroom breaks. In every pub we went to over the previous twelve hours, at least one of us had to go, Kooros continued.
Despite breaking the record by early evening, Kooros and Loiterton made the decision to keep going until they hit 100. They stopped at the 99th pub, thinking it was the 100th.

After breaking the world record with his friend Loiterton, Kooros told GWR, “There is a sense of accomplishment that comes not only from breaking a record but also from the meticulous planning and execution required to break the record.”
