Air India warned that adverse weather could affect flights operating to and from Delhi. The airline asked passengers to confirm their flight status before leaving for the airport.

Akasa Air reported that severe weather had affected certain flights across its network.

“#TravelUpdate: Due to severe weather conditions in Delhi certain flights across our network have been impacted. We realize that this may inconvenience your travel plans and seek your patience and understanding. While this situation is completely beyond our control, please rest assured that our teams are always ready to assist you. Please check the flight status bit.ly/qpfltsts before commencing your travel to the airport,” the airline posted.

SpiceJet cautioned that arrivals, departures and connecting flights could face delays.

The India Meteorological Department issued alerts for Delhi. It forecast heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and strong gusty winds in parts of the capital.

The Airports Authority of India earlier advised flyers to monitor weather conditions at both departure and arrival cities.

The authority asked passengers to reach the airport well in advance, as rainfall could slow road traffic.
