Delhi-NCR Weather Today: Rain, Thunderstorms Likely As IMD Forecasts More Showers

Delhi-NCR experienced cloudy skies and relatively pleasant conditions on Saturday as the region remained under the influence of a weather system expected to bring more rain and thunderstorms.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate rainfall in Delhi and neighbouring areas, along with thunderstorms and lightning at different times of the day.

Rain activity is likely during the morning and again in the afternoon and evening.

The forecast follows a spell of heavy rain in Delhi on Friday, when strong winds accompanied the showers.

Wind gusts reached nearly 60 kmph in some parts of the city, while waterlogging at several locations disrupted traffic and caused difficulties for commuters.

The IMD said the prevailing conditions are linked to a well-marked low-pressure area over central parts of northern Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas of south Uttar Pradesh.
The system will likely remain nearly stationary for the next two days, supporting continued rainfall across the region.

Delhi will likely record a maximum temperature of 29-31 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 24-26 degrees Celsius on Saturday.

Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad and Faridabad are likely to receive intermittent rain and thunderstorms.

Faridabad recorded 4.5 mm of rainfall in the preceding 24 hours, with temperatures ranging between 28.3 and 34.4 degrees Celsius.

Ghaziabad recorded a minimum of 27.1 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 34.9 degrees Celsius.

Rainfall will likely weaken from September 6, with mainly dry and partly cloudy conditions likely from September 7 to 10.

Temperatures could gradually climb back to 33-35 degrees Celsius as the weather system moves away.

The IMD has advised commuters to exercise caution due to possible waterlogging, traffic disruption and slippery roads during periods of heavy rain.
