Amit Shah Goa Visit: Home Minister To Review Security, Narcotics And State Matters

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will begin a three-day visit to Goa on Saturday. He will remain in the state until September 7.

Shah’s itinerary includes key engagements on internal security, anti-narcotics efforts, Centre-state coordination and regional administration. He will attend programmes linked to the Bharatiya Janata Party.

On September 6, Shah will chair a morning meeting to review Goa-related matters across various divisions of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The meeting will cover state-specific concerns and issues under the Union Home Ministry’s jurisdiction.

Later, the Minister will address a press conference on narcotics. The interaction will highlight efforts to curb drug trafficking, strengthen India’s anti-narcotics framework and prevent the illegal movement of drugs.

During his visit, Shah will inaugurate the Bharatiya Janata Party’s newly constructed state office, Atal Bhavan. He will then chair a meeting of the party’s State Core Committee. The meeting will consider organisational and political matters.

On September 7, Shah will attend the Western Zonal Council meeting. The forum will bring together Goa, Gujarat, Maharashtra and the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.

The council will address regional development, administrative coordination and matters requiring inter-state cooperation. It will facilitate discussions on common concerns and strengthen collaborative mechanisms among participating regions.

After the council meeting, HM Shah will attend the Goa Police President’s Colours Award Ceremony.

The event will take place at the Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium in Taleigao.

The President’s Colours rank among the highest honours awarded to uniformed services. They recognise distinguished service, professional excellence and significant contributions to national security and public service.
