Can You Earn ₹14,000 Per Hour With AI? LinkedIn Tests New AI Labour Marketplace

LinkedIn, owned by Microsoft, is reportedly piloting an ‘AI labour marketplace’ that could offer earnings of up to ₹14,000 per hour, according to a Business Insider report.

The initiative remains in its early trial phase, with over a dozen roles listed for AI trainers tasked with evaluating chatbot responses, identifying inaccuracies, and conducting ‘red teaming’ exercises to detect vulnerabilities in artificial intelligence systems.

The platform has opened opportunities across diverse domains, including coding, finance, healthcare, and linguistics.

Compensation varies by expertise, ranging from approximately ₹3,700 to ₹14,000 per hour.

Senior software engineer trainers command the highest rates, while specialists in Excel, finance, nursing, and Germanic or Nordic languages may earn up to around ₹9,300 per hour.

Roles focused on stress-testing AI systems through red teaming offer compensation between ₹3,700 and ₹4,600 per hour.

LinkedIn invites users to express interest through in-platform prompts and has begun rolling out alerts for such roles in the United States.

Availability in India remains gradual, with the platform indicating a phased rollout.

Applicants must verify their profiles using government identification, complete an AI-driven screening interview, and undertake project-specific assignments.

The platform evaluates candidates based on profile data, including education, certifications, and professional experience.

This initiative places LinkedIn in direct competition with AI training startups such as Mercor and Surge AI, which connect skilled professionals with companies like OpenAI and Anthropic for model refinement.

In a separate report, LinkedIn noted that 79 per cent of Indian small and medium businesses prefer integrated platforms, aligning with its plan to launch Premium All-in-One, an AI-powered solution.
