In the 22nd fixture of the Indian Premier League 2026, Chennai Super Kings defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 32 runs on Tuesday.
Chasing a target of 193 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, KKR managed only 160 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs, registering their fourth defeat in five matches this season.
KKR’s innings began on a disappointing note, with Phil Allen departing for just 1 run. Sunil Narine looked promising but failed to convert his start, scoring 24 runs off 17 balls before being caught by Gurjapneet Singh off Khaleel Ahmed.
Captain Ajinkya Rahane contributed 28 runs off 22 deliveries before being dismissed. Angkrish Raghuvanshi added 27 runs off 19 balls, including three boundaries and a six. Rinku Singh struggled again, managing only 6 runs from 12 balls.
Cameron Green, batting lower down the order, was dismissed without scoring, falling to Noor Ahmad.
In the closing stages, Rovman Powell and Ramandeep Singh stitched together a 63-run partnership off 40 balls, offering some resistance. Ramandeep scored 35 runs off 23 balls, while Powell remained unbeaten on 31, but their efforts were insufficient to chase down the target.
For CSK, Noor Ahmad delivered a standout performance, claiming 3 wickets for just 21 runs. Anshul Kamboj provided valuable support, picking up 2 wickets for 32 runs.
Earlier, Chennai Super Kings posted 192 for 5 after being put in to bat. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was dismissed early for 7 runs, continuing his lean run.
Ayush Mhatre and Sanju Samson rebuilt the innings with a quick 47-run partnership for the second wicket in 22 balls. Mhatre scored 38 runs off 17 balls, while Samson made 48 off 32 deliveries before being dismissed by Kartik Tyagi.
Dewald Brevis added a valuable 41 runs, while Sarfaraz Khan chipped in with 23. Shivam Dube remained unbeaten on 13, and Jamie Overton finished on 7 not out.
For KKR, Kartik Tyagi picked up two wickets, while Vaibhav Arora, Sunil Narine, and Anukul Roy claimed one each. This result marks Chennai Super Kings’ second victory of the season, boosting their campaign in the tournament.
