Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Thrilled After Maiden Player Of The Series Award In Zimbabwe T20Is

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi enjoyed a memorable end to India’s tour of Zimbabwe after collecting both the Player of the Match and Player of the Series awards in the third T20I at Harare Sports Club. His outstanding display helped India seal a comprehensive 3-0 series triumph.

The teenage batter anchored India’s innings with a fluent 81 off 49 balls, guiding the visitors to a commanding total of 192/5 before they secured a comfortable 35-run victory.

Reflecting on his success, Sooryavanshi said receiving his first individual awards at the international level was a special moment in his career. He described the recognition as the fulfilment of a long-held dream and expressed his happiness after the series.

The young left-hander said India’s preparations in Harare played an important role in the team’s performances. He added that his previous experience at the venue during the Under-19 World Cup gave him added confidence throughout the series.

Sooryavanshi also thanked the team management, captain and fellow players for believing in his abilities and encouraging him to play with freedom.

Explaining his batting strategy, the opener said his role was to provide India with positive starts while ensuring he converted those starts into significant contributions. He emphasised that he follows the same attacking approach in matches that he practises in the nets.

The tour marked an important milestone for the youngster, who registered two fifty-plus scores in the series and emerged as one of India’s brightest performers against Zimbabwe.
