Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Earns Maiden India T20I Call-Up For Ireland Tour

India has included teenage batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in the national T20I set-up for the first time, rewarding him for his impressive rise through the ranks.

The youngster will travel with the squad for the upcoming white-ball assignments in Ireland and England and has also been chosen for the Asian Games campaign in Japan. His elevation highlights the selectors’ confidence in a player widely regarded as one of the brightest prospects in Indian cricket.

The latest squad announcement has also confirmed a change in leadership, with Shreyas Iyer taking over as T20I captain and Tilak Varma serving as his deputy.

According to chief selector Ajit Agarkar, Iyer’s extensive leadership experience and strong performances made him the preferred choice to lead the team into its next cycle.

The management views the forthcoming international fixtures as an important phase in shaping the squad for future global competitions.

India’s decision-makers have opted to move in a different direction despite Suryakumar Yadav’s success in guiding the side to a T20 World Cup triumph earlier this year.

The selection committee believes the changes will help establish a stable foundation for the years ahead.

Harshit Rana and Ravi Bishnoi have returned to the national set-up, while Prince Yadav has secured places in the squads for Ireland and England. Jasprit Bumrah will strengthen the side when India competes at the Asian Games later this year.
