Australia secured a thrilling one-wicket victory over a resilient Pakistan in the U19 World Cup semifinal, propelled by Tom Straker’s remarkable six-wicket haul and Harry Dixon’s composed fifty. This sets the stage for an intense showdown against defending champions India in Benoni.
The upcoming title clash will be a rematch of last year’s senior men’s ODI World Cup final, where Australia emerged victorious over India in Ahmedabad to clinch their sixth title. The Aussies had delivered a double blow to the Indian team in 2023, also defeating Rohit Sharma’s men in the final of the World Test Championship.
However, for India U19 captain Uday Saharan, revenge isn’t the priority; the youngster believes his team should focus solely on their own performance without dwelling too much on past outcomes.

“I am not dwelling on anything like that,” Saharan stated, as quoted by PTI. “We are concentrating on our game and giving our best. We are adapting to the match conditions. Every game is crucial because it’s the World Cup, and all teams are formidable.”
As reigning champions, India boasts an impeccable record in the tournament, winning every match they’ve played in this edition. They secured dominant victories with significant margins until their narrow two-wicket win over hosts South Africa in the semifinals.
“Our dream is to win this tournament,” Saharan emphasized. “We want to create history and etch our names in the annals of cricket. Our focus is on delivering our best.”
Saharan also urged the nation to continue their unwavering support, promising to put their all into bringing the Cup home.

Numerous stalwarts in the senior national team have emerged from the Under-19 World Cup, including Mohammad Kaif, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, and Ravindra Jadeja.
However, Saharan refused to entertain comparisons with these stars, stating that he wouldn’t succumb to the pressure of legacy.
“I don’t dwell on it. I don’t look back. I only focus on how I can contribute my best for the team and bring out the best in them.”
