Suryakumar Yadav Meets PM Modi With Family; Extends Diwali Greetings In Delhi

Former India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav met Prime Minister Narendra Modi with his wife and children in New Delhi to extend Diwali greetings. The festive meeting brought together one of India’s leading cricketers and the country’s Prime Minister.

PM Modi shared pictures of the interaction on social media platform X. He welcomed the cricketer’s family with a special message.

“Deepwali ke mahual mei Ram and Saryu ka aagman hua hai. Isse Diwali ka vatavaran aur bhi paawan aur divya ho gaya hai,” the Prime Minister wrote. He said their arrival had made the festive atmosphere more sacred and divine.

Suryakumar thanked the Prime Minister for his warm hospitality. He also conveyed his heartfelt Diwali wishes.

The meeting drew attention on social media. Cricket fans and supporters welcomed the interaction between the Prime Minister and the Indian cricket star.

Earlier this year, Suryakumar credited PM Modi’s focus on sports for the transformation of India’s sporting ecosystem. He said the changes were massive and visible on the ground.

He highlighted improvements in sports infrastructure, opportunities and the growing acceptance of sports as a career option.

“Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji has spoken very loudly and clearly about making India a sporting powerhouse, and if you see the change, it is clearly massive and visible on the ground,” Suryakumar said.

Recalling his early cricketing days, the 35-year-old said limited infrastructure had restricted opportunities for young athletes.

“When I started playing cricket, there was very little infrastructure, so the opportunities were very limited,” he said.

Last month, Suryakumar began his stint as MLB India’s Brand Ambassador. He swapped his cricket bat for a baseball bat at Major League Baseball’s inaugural MLBx Mumbai-3-on-3 baseball event in Mumbai.
