BJP MP Nishikant Dubey launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, claiming that the Opposition had made him the Prime Minister of a mock Parliament because he had little prospect of holding the constitutional post.
Dubey said Gandhi had lost numerous elections and claimed the Opposition made him the symbolic Prime Minister to keep him satisfied.
Responding to allegations of suppressing young people’s and citizens’ voices, Dubey criticised activists and political figures, including Neha Bora, Prashant Bhushan, Yogendra Yadav and Brinda Karat.
He accused some protest organisers of repeatedly participating in demonstrations across political platforms and argued that certain individuals had built their public roles around movements rather than electoral politics.
The BJP MP also made controversial remarks about Jawaharlal Nehru’s decisions during the Partition period, questioning the transfer of territories, including Noakhali, Sylhet and Chittagong, to Pakistan.
He alleged that Nehru prioritised becoming Prime Minister and questioned his handling of the political negotiations involving the princely state of Tripura.
Dubey referred to the 1946 Noakhali violence, alleging that the leadership failed to protect Hindus in the region. He also claimed Tripura’s royal family opposed decisions involving its territories before the state acceded to India in 1948.
Questioning the Sylhet referendum, he raised allegations about former judge Baharul Islam. Dubey further argued that losing Chittagong Port weakened the Northeast’s connectivity and economic prospects.
He called for reclaiming Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, Sylhet, Noakhali and Chittagong, describing this as a need to revisit Partition-era decisions.
