Para Hockey Coach Rajeshwari Credits PM Modi’s Support For India’s Global Progress

Para world hockey coach Rajeshwari has praised the support available to Indian athletes with disabilities. She credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s backing, preparatory camps and Special Olympics Bharat (SOB) for creating stronger opportunities and international exposure.

Rajeshwari said athletes receive essential facilities, including food, accommodation and equipment. She said this assistance helps players prepare for international competitions.

India recently competed internationally and finished sixth on a pool-by-pool basis. The team secured 11th position in the overall world standings.

Rajeshwari attributed the performance to the support system surrounding the players. She said preparatory camps provide athletes with disabilities regular practice and structured training.

“We got 6th place in Pool-Wise and 11th place in World-Wise. We got these because of PM Narendra Modi’s support for sports,” she said.

Rajeshwari highlighted SOB’s contribution to the team.

The coach said the programme aims to provide fair and equal opportunities to athletes through organised training camps and international tournaments.

Rajeshwari stressed that athletes with disabilities can now access opportunities to develop their abilities and compete globally. She said the support structure remains important as India seeks to improve its international standing.

Looking ahead, the coach expressed confidence about the team’s prospects.

India had lost to the Netherlands during the pool-stage campaign. Rajeshwari said the defeat provided an important learning experience.

“My expectation is that we are playing a challenging tournament in the Netherlands versus India,” she said. “Next time we go there, we will definitely get a place.”

Rajeshwari added that the team remains determined to return stronger and secure a better position in future competitions.
