Nitish Kumar Reddy Ruled Out; Suryansh Shedge Earns India Call-Up

India’s plans for their upcoming white-ball assignments have been disrupted after all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy was ruled out through injury.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that Reddy experienced discomfort in his left quadriceps after the third ODI against Afghanistan.

Following medical evaluations, the board’s medical team advised rehabilitation, forcing him to miss the T20I series against both Ireland and England.

Nitish Kumar Reddy’s absence further reduces India’s pace-bowling all-round resources, with Hardik Pandya also unavailable as he continues his recovery from an injury suffered during IPL 2026.

To fill the vacancy, selectors have rewarded Mumbai cricketer Suryansh Shedge with a place in the senior national side for the first time.

The 23-year-old strengthened his case during India A’s recent tri-series campaign in Sri Lanka. He delivered valuable contributions with both bat and ball, helping the side secure the tournament title.

Batting in the middle order, Shedge accumulated 147 runs in five appearances and also provided useful overs with the ball, picking up two wickets.

Shedge’s elevation follows a series of notable displays across domestic competitions.

One of his standout performances came during Mumbai’s victorious Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy campaign in the 2024-25 season.

Suryansh Shedge’s aggressive lower-order batting yielded 131 runs at a remarkable strike rate of 251.92, making him one of the competition’s most impactful finishers.

Those performances attracted the attention of IPL franchises and led to Punjab Kings securing his services for ₹30 lakh at the IPL 2025 auction.

Shedge joined Lucknow Super Giants as a replacement player in 2023 but did not feature in a match. He later established himself in the IPL with the Punjab Kings.

Suryansh Shedge has scored 165 runs from 17 IPL innings, including an impressive return of 158 runs in seven innings during the 2026 season.
