The 41st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 is being played between the Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday.
Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to bat first, backing the conditions to favour their batting unit early in the game.
Mumbai Indians head into this fixture aiming to improve their standing in the points table, having endured a challenging campaign so far. They have lost five of their seven matches and currently sit in ninth place.
In contrast, Sunrisers Hyderabad have had a more stable run, winning five out of their eight matches and occupying the fourth position.
A win here would strengthen SRH’s hold in the top four, while MI are in urgent need of momentum.
The Mumbai Indians made two changes to their playing XI. Captain Hardik Pandya explained the decision at the toss, noting that the pitch looked favourable with a slight breeze and cooler conditions. He downplayed the impact of dew and emphasised the need for his side to reset.
Pandya also confirmed that Mitchell Santner missed out, while Quinton de Kock was unavailable due to a wrist injury. The team brought Robin Minz and Ryan Rickelton into the side.
Sunrisers Hyderabad, meanwhile, made just one change. Captain Pat Cummins stated that they would have preferred to bowl first as well, expressing satisfaction with the toss outcome. He added that the pitch could demand adaptability and confirmed Harsh Dubey’s inclusion in place of Shivang.
Sunrisers Hyderabad: Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Ishan Kishan, Heinrich Klaasen, Salil Arora (wk), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Pat Cummins (c), Harsh Dubey, Saqib Hussain, Praful Hinge, Ishan Malinga.
Mumbai Indians: Ryan Rickelton (wk), Will Jacks, Naman Dhir, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya (c), Robin Minz, Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah, AM Ghazanfar, Ashwani Kumar.
