Kolkata weather report for IND vs.SA in the ICC CWC 2023: Will rain cancel today’s match at Eden Gardens?

Rain severely disrupted the opening match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Saturday at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, where Pakistan overcame New Zealand using the DLS Method. The Pakistani chase was limited to just 25 overs due to the unceasing rain in Bengaluru. Fans will be praying that Team India’s match against South Africa at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday does not suffer a similar fate.

Right now, the weather forecast for Sunday afternoon in Kolkata seems bleak. As captains Rohit Sharma and Temba Bavuma depart for the toss at around 130 p.m., the Eden Gardens will be covered in clouds to a 99 percent degree with a 54 percent humidity level and a 33 degree temperature. The weather authority also states that there is a 5% possibility of rain.

The afternoon will bring a drop in temperature to roughly 26 degrees and an increase in humidity to 67%. But by the evening, the cloud cover will only be about 46%. In Kolkata, there’s also a chance of dew later in the evening.

The players will have a difficult time on Sunday as the Air Quality Index (AQI), which is currently at a “very unhealthy” level even in Kolkata at about 247, is also at this level. No specific style of bowling has benefited from Eden Gardens’ pitch. Spinners have a higher economy rate thus far in the ICC World Cup 2023 if fast bowlers have taken wickets at a higher strike-rate than them.

“Of course, after examining the wicket, we’ll see how our team will appear. I would prefer to play both of our front-line spinners if it is feasible, but we’ll see how that works out. Once we’re in the game, we must once more evaluate the circumstances and keep an eye on the average score. However, we think that with our team, we can score any amount of points we want,” South African captain Temba Bavuma stated the night before the game in Kolkata.

“I believe we are aware that it won’t be a fast-scoring environment like Delhi.” We may need to graft a great deal more. It may take a lot more balls to land on the earth. However, that will all take place tomorrow. We won’t enter the room today carrying a lot of preconceptions,” he continued.
