Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Mumbai Indians and former India cricketer Anil Kumble have expressed condolences to the victims of the blast near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station.
A powerful explosion ripped through a Haryana-registered Hyundai i20 parked near Gate No 1 on Monday evening, killing several people and injuring many others.
The blast occurred at a busy traffic signal, causing panic in Old Delhi, setting nearby vehicles on fire, and shattering windows.
Eyewitnesses described a deafening roar with thick black smoke rising from the wreckage.
The incident comes hours after Jammu & Kashmir Police dismantled a transnational terror network linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind in Faridabad, recovering 2,900 kg of explosives and arms.
Mumbai Indians shared a “United we stand” poster on X to show solidarity with the victims.
Meanwhile, IPL defending champions Royal Challengers Bangalore wrote, “Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected. Stay strong, Delhi.”
Anil Kumble said, “Tragic and shocking news from Delhi. The loss of lives near the Red Fort Metro Station is heartbreaking. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families during this difficult time.”
“Saddened by the loss of lives due to the blast in Delhi. Praying for strength to the families of the deceased and for the speedy recovery of the injured,” Gautam Gambhir wrote on X.
Meanwhile, other cricketers also expressed grief. Amit Mishra wrote, “Deeply saddened by the tragic Delhi blast near Red Fort. Prayers for the victims, their families, and a speedy recovery for the injured. Stay safe.”
Pragyan Ojha added, “Deeply anguished by the tragic loss of lives. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. Praying for strength and recovery for the injured.”
India batter Nitish Rana posted, “Deeply saddened by the loss of innocent lives. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families affected. United we stand against terror.”
Kedar Jadhav said, “The blast near the Red Fort Metro Station is deeply tragic. Heartfelt condolences to the families. Praying for the speedy recovery of all the injured. Om Shanti.”
Indian pacer Ishant Sharma concluded, “Praying for peace and strength for everyone in Delhi. Our city has an unbreakable spirit. Together, we’ll rise stronger.”
The outpouring of support from IPL teams and cricketers highlights unity and resilience in the face of terror.
